Every Weekend Should be a Three Day Weekend

Apparently I need 3 days to get things done and relax on the weekend. After last weekend, which was the complete opposite of how I like my weekends to go, I really needed a good long weekend. Last weekend I needed a drink to unwind from my weekend! This weekend was way better The best part of the weekend – my parents and my sister came to visit and we went to 2 Rivers Park. The boys were super good so we can go again! I also got to run twice this weekend. Yay!

But first, here’s a few pics from Friday night. (Yes, I dress them in matching pjs too):

James – up to no good of course

I took lots and lots of pictures from 2 Rivers Park! We had a great time! I’m trying to get a “jogging stroller” which will be better for outside! I hope it works out! For now, this monster works well and the boys are happy in it! They refused to look for pictures though!

We switched up the order on the way back!

We put the boys in the grass too! James HATED it so no pictures of James! Mason and Logan thought it was ok though!

We brought our Pop N Play too so we didn’t have to chase babies around!

And I took lots more pictures of course!
Addison and Lizzie
The real Logan
Mason and James
Mason and Nana
Then I guess we stayed a little too long and James got cranky so he took a little nap in the stroller!
Overall we had a very successful trip! We’ll definitely be going back! We had such a good trip that after church Saturday night we went out to dinner. Completely unplanned. James thought he was in heaven! You can’t tell from these pictures but he was shoveling food into his mouth as fast as he could! He also tried (and liked) jello. Logan was asleep or he probably would have agreed with James. Mason just wanted to play. BUT they were all good!
Yesterday Addison spent the day at her friend’s house redoing their school project that they should have finished on Friday at school. But something happened (I’m not sure what but it was tragic whatever it was) and they had to start over. Luckily they finished yesterday morning. Then we let her friends spend the night. The best thing about 10 year olds – they entertain themselves. All you have to do is feed them. But we played Giant Jenga with them too because we’re awesome like that. FYI I’m pretty good at Giant Jenga. I definitely did not knock it over both games we played.
James also learned a new trick this weekend! I guess we can’t use the coffee table as a barrier to baby jail anymore!
The prize – a basket of toys . . . and penis keys

James HATES being trapped in baby jail btw! He’s pretty pitiful!

And a few pictures from today too! I did work today but only for a few hours. And I wore jeans, flip flops, and a tank top. Actually I wear that most days. But still, not a big deal to work for a few hours!
Cranky Logan

And Brian got another picture of all 3 smiling! Love it!

And this one describes what Mason and Logan love best! Mason loves books. He doesn’t particularly care for READING books. He likes to eat them. And he has 6 teeth so he’s starting to destroy our books so we’ve been hiding them. I’m not sure where he found this one. And Logan likes to bang whatever he can find on the hardwoods. He’s a very loud baby!
Ok last one I promise. Otis!
Oh we also put all 3 boys in the big bathtub together last night. They did great! And it was so cute!

Sorry for the long post! I figured it’s better to post my pictures here rather than overshare on Facebook (which I already do anyways).

Thoughts on Becoming a Dance Mom

So . . . I’m a dance mom. Funny right? Not like the show Dance Moms luckily. I would die. And Addison would not be allowed to do dance. Still, I feel out of place. I guess maybe I’m not the dance mom type. Oh well, Addison loves to dance so I guess I’ll deal with it. There are worse things.

Our first year went well. We did “Mini Company” this year. It’s like the lite version of Company. We went to 2 competitions but we didn’t travel. Addison went to dance 3 times per week. And loved every minute of it. But she wants more of course. So I guess next year we’ll be doing full Company and travelling. And drinking (me not Addison).
Here are some pictures of my dancer girl from our first season:
And her dance friends. These girls crack me up!
And some pictures from our awards ceremony (Addison got 2 awards!) and recital (not in costumes):
Some thoughts on being a dance mom:
Dance Carpoool: Dance carpool saved my life this year (and last year too). I enjoy driving the dance carpool too when it’s my turn. I get to hear the 10 year old drama. Good stuff. Like who has boyfriends (not my daughter), who got arrested for “illegal drinking” (whatever that is), and who is in a fight with whom that day.
Makeup for 10 Year Olds: Makeup for 10 year olds is difficult. There’s a fine line between the smoky eye look they want (eyeliner and mascara included) and the prostitute look. I’ve gotten pretty good at it. And I’m pretty proud of myself. See the makeup in the pictures?! I did that! Addison really likes wearing makeup, especially the smoky eye makeup. I’ll have to make sure she doesn’t try to do this herself. I highly suspect she’ll cross that line and end up looking like a prostitute.
Fishnets for Children: Fishnets for 10 year olds. Also weird. Addison ripped hers so guess who got to put them on her? Oh yeah, me. Good news about fishnets – Addison does not like them. This is especially good news considering the potential for prostitute makeup.
Dance Moms: Some dance moms are crazy. Like legitimately, need meds crazy. My dance mom friends aren’t in this group (that I know of). My dance mom friend is going to get me in trouble though. We may have almost gotten kicked out of the recital. More than once.
Dance Competitions: Dance competitions are an all day event (all weekend I think in my future). They should serve grown up drinks at dance competitions and recitals.

Dance Costumes: Addison loved one and hated one of her costumes this year. The one she loved – the one that showed her belly of course. So far we require that she always wear a shirt. Also, I’ve heard that dance moms have to bedazzle costumes. I really hope no one ever asks me to bedazzle anything. Not my thing.

Booty Shorts and Other Dance Clothes: When Addison started dance I told her not to refer to her dance shorts as “booty shorts” because dad won’t like that. Well if I’m being honest they’re booty shorts, the shorter the better apparently. Weird also for a 10 year old. But I do remember wearing the shortest shorts I could find when I played volleyball so I get it.

So I guess a version of my future self may end up being a dance mom. Like a real-life legit dance mom. If you see me acting all crazy, taking an hour to put makeup on my child, or engaging in other strange unfortunate dance mom behaviors, please let me know to cut that sh*t out. But I will be a dance mom as long as Addison wants to do dance I guess. She really does love it more than anything.

A Better Mother’s Day

Today was about as perfect as I could have ever hoped! And much much better than last year! The day isn’t over, but so far none of my babies have tried to die today. And I haven’t cried (well I almost cried but for happy reasons so it doesn’t count). Both of those things happened last year unfortunately!

I actually started my Mother’s Day last night. Because, well, it was a long week, followed by 2 long days of dance. That mess in the floor in the background . . . yeah I left that there. Brian is cleaning it up now. And I’m about to finish that bottle of wine.

The start of today was a little bittersweet. Today was my last morning to breastfeed. I’m not done completely but I’m cutting out the morning session so I’m down to once a day now. But I’m ready. And Mason has 6 teeth and he bites so that’s not fun either.

Then Brian made chocolate chip pancakes and bacon so all was right with the world again. I mean it’s pancakes AND chocolate. And bacon. Oh and I had coffee too of course.

And I got some awesome Mother’s Day gifts too! My favorite things were the cards though! Addison made my card in computer class at school. And I love it!

The boys didn’t make their card but they edited it and they signed it so just as good (even though they signed out of order)!

We had a pretty uneventful day really. We went to church and the boys were great! James actually stayed in his seat the whole time! This is the first time ever! Logan got out but he just wanted to play. And yell. So loudly.

Then I got to take a nap. A NAP!!! I almost forgot how amazing naps are! I got to take a nap with Logan on the couch for about 30 minutes. It was the best nap ever. I love naps.

Then we went to dinner. And it went great! James slept pretty much the whole time. Mason and Logan sat in highchairs like big boys and they were super good. And adventurous. Mason ate rice and guacamole (just the avocado) and Logan ate a lime. He loved it.

I got to have margaritas. I got 2 because they boys were being so good we were able to stay! And of course we took some selfies.

And a few more pictures:

Then I got to go shopping because the boys were being so good! Yay! Not by myself because that’s crazy talk. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself. I may never come home.

Oh and then we got home and Addison posted this on Instagram and almost made me cry. But I didn’t because I’m a big girl.

The selfie is from yesterday when we were getting Starbucks on the way to dance recital. She doesn’t always wear that much makeup (she’s not allowed to wear ANY makeup in real life!) Here’s another selfie from yesterday though because I kinda love selfies with Addison.

And last but not least, I got a picture of me with all 3 boys tonight! And they all looked. Once. And they’re out of order so please forgive me (you’ll have to guess).

This happened immediately after:

And I found this on my phone

And here’s one more picture of the 3 boys in their super cute Polo rompers!

Otis photobombed this one. And Belly is sniffing James in the other one at the top! Ha! Dogs are silly.

Happy Mother’s Day to all my mom friends!
